Caring House and Frank Mckinney Aid Team makes it into Port Au Prince Haiti after Earthquake to provide aid

Update from Kimberley Trombly-Burmeister, Executive Director, Caring House Project Foundation

Frank McKinney and the Caring House Project Foundation disaster relief teams successfully ARRIVED in Port-au-Prince, Haiti yesterday ( Thursday, Jan 14, 2010) for Emergency Haiti Earthquake Relief. We wasted no time to respond in this short window of opportunity to search for and rescue those trapped, and treat those critically injured. Our team of doctors, paramedics, firefighters and other team members specifically trained in search, rescue and extraction techniques in natural disasters have been working since arrival.

As you saw on the news, non-military flights were being denied access to fly into Port-au-Prince, but our world class response team kept diligent with our efforts and received clearance to arrive in this critical time period. We were the first American Emergency Relief Team to arrive.

I have heard from Frank McKinney and the team. They have set up their site operations relief camp and joined in with 15 other countries and international teams in an organized relief effort. At this point, we are still the only American Relief team that has arrived. Since their arrival, Frank and the team have been actively engaged in the search and rescue efforts and the immediate necessary medical attention . They have felt some of the aftershocks since, but are all safe.

Frank and I, along with our rescue team want to sincerely thank you for your donations and all your support. If you haven’t, and would still like to do so, please visit our donate page http://www.frank-mckinney.com/donate.aspx
or you can call 561-722-3950. The devastation to this country is tragic, and it will take a long time to rebuild, but the Caring House Project Foundation is committed to being there for the duration. We appreciate your help.

We will keep connected with you regarding the latest information on our Caring House Project Foundation emergency relief efforts.

Thank you again for all your support!

Former US President Bill Clinton is slated to make his first trip as UN special envoy to Haiti next week to help the storm-ravaged nation.

Clinton will begin a three-day mission Monday to ensure the world delivers on a $335 million pledge made at a donor conference in Washington after four devastating tropical storms killed some 800 people last fall, causing some $1 billion in damage.

While many residents are still digging out from the storms, they must also prepare for the next storm season.

In March, Clinton accompanied UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on a four-day mission to the impoverished Caribbean nation.

Last month, Clinton said his goal in Haiti would be the same as when he was the top UN envoy promoting recovery from the massive 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami – “to leave things better than they were before the natural disasters.’”

Clinton said he would encourage international investment by working to improve power supplies, promote clean energy, encourage donors to honor their commitments and highlight “both the pain and the promise of Haiti”and its economic opportunities.
